5. HIPAA, Minnesota Health Records, and Your Health Information
Power of Life Chiropractic and Holistic Health is a health care provider covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Protected health information (“PHI”) that we collect, create, receive, maintain, or transmit is protected under HIPAA and the Minnesota Health Records Act. Our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices explains in detail how we use and disclose PHI and your rights regarding it. Where this Website Privacy Policy and the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices both apply, the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices controls for PHI.
Minnesota law gives patients additional protections. In general, we obtain your signed consent before releasing your health records to others, except where Minnesota law allows release without consent, such as in a medical emergency.
Please do not send urgent or highly sensitive medical information through the Site’s general contact form or by regular email. Call the clinic at (952) 443-9000 instead.
6. Cookies, Analytics, and Online Tracking
The Site uses cookies and similar tools to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, understand which pages visitors use, and improve our content. Analytics tools collect general information about how visitors use the Site, such as pages viewed and time on the Site.
We do not use advertising or retargeting pixels on pages where you book appointments, complete intake forms, or submit health information.
Most browsers let you accept, block, or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of the Site work.
7. Text Messages, Email, Phone Calls, and Marketing Preferences
If you give us your mobile number, email address, or phone number, we may use it to send appointment reminders, intake requests, follow-up instructions, billing messages, and practice updates. With your consent, we may also send newsletters, wellness content, and special offers.
You can opt out of marketing messages at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email, replying STOP to a text message, or contacting frontdesk@poweroflifehealth.com. Message and data rates may apply to text messages. Email and text messages can be intercepted or delayed, so please do not use them for emergencies.
8. When We Share Information
Power of Life Chiropractic and Holistic Health does not sell personal information or protected health information. We share information only as needed for the following purposes:
- With our doctors, staff, and contractors who need it to do their jobs.
- With service providers that help us run the clinic and the Site, such as scheduling, electronic health record, secure form, payment, IT, email, and text message providers. When these providers handle PHI, they sign Business Associate Agreements that require them to protect it.
- With insurers, payers, and billing companies involved in payment for your care, as permitted by law.
- With another provider, caregiver, or person involved in your care, with your consent or as permitted by law.
- With government agencies, courts, or law enforcement when required by law.
- As part of a sale, merger, or transfer of the practice, subject to the same privacy protections.
9. Third-Party Links and Embedded Features
The Site may link to or include features from other companies, such as maps, videos, review platforms, online booking, payment portals, and social media. When you use these features or leave our Site, the other company’s privacy policy and terms apply. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.
10. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. These include limiting access to staff who need it, secure vendors, staff privacy training, and secure disposal of records. No website, transmission method, or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Retention and Destruction
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy and as required by law. We keep written chiropractic records for at least seven years after your last visit and x-rays for at least four years, consistent with Minnesota’s chiropractic recordkeeping law (Minn. Stat. § 148.10), and longer when another law or an open claim requires it. Website inquiries that do not become part of a patient record are deleted when they are no longer needed. When we no longer need information, we securely destroy, delete, or de-identify it.
12. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on the information involved, you have the following rights:
- Request access to, or a copy of, your health records. Under Minnesota law, we provide copies within 30 days of your written request, and any copy fees are limited by law.

- Ask us to limit how we use or share your health information, or to contact you in a specific way.
- Withdraw a consent you have given us, in writing, for future uses.
